"Every Mirror Turns Black"
[Bugs Crawling Out Of People Records]
It has to be said that after the first two tracks of this album, "Cortruisse" and "Seven" I was having grave misgivings. rather than being music all Famine seemed to offer was random noises congealed together horribly to form some very vague semblence of a song. Then on came "Blood Sacrifice" which broke the mould entirely. A heavy song with a furious melody emerged from the ashes and with its stuttering industrial style and hostile atmosphere I had completely forgotten the opening to this album.
Famine, signed to Bugs Crawling Out Of Humans Records in Canada have released their new album "Every Mirror Turns Black" and the next song "Idle Flattery" carried with it a sense of real burden and darkness. Plus for future reference modem sounds work quite well and can be kind of spooky. It really is an up and down album. Some tracks are nothing but noise to me while others have a really brutal flow to them like "I Don't Believe". Wghen the guitar comes out Famine sound superb, but more often than not the songs are dependant on sound effects and thats dissapointing.
