MONTANA
"Montanimals"
[Sound Devastation Records]

Not entirely sure what to make of montana and their new release "Montanimals". The band face a constant uphill battle against very shoddy production qualities but do produce a very energetic and sometime distant sounding CD. Vocally more shouting than anything but lyrically they speak of being ones self and having belief. Musically the band come across as slightly simplistic but they do employ fantastic pace changes that keep you guessing and keep the band shrouded in a freshness that alot of other bands lack. It does have to be said that this isn't entirely my thing and it isn't something I could listen too again and again, but the rawness of the bands energy and the aggression they can pump into their sound at times is quite refreshing. "Montanimals" is amash mash of styles thrown together randomly in order to se if they can gel, and it has to be said that the band have created something quite unique. Time will tell but I think maany a folk out there will like what Montana have to offer.
