VELCRA - Hadal
VELCRA
"Hadal"
Industrial Finnish rockers Velcra are back with a stunning album, "Hadal". Starting with the dramatic and severely haunting "The Big Sleep" you instantly get a feel for the depth and effort that goes into making Velcra's music. It packs a certain element of clarity and a huge amount of beauty, mainly from vocalist Jessi Frey, whose voice will send your senses into rapture!
Velcra's use of synthesized music creates amazing undertones and mixes will with the bands general ambience and obvious technical ability. "White Knuckle Mountains" gives you get a glimpse of Velcra's heavier side as they quicken the pace somewhat, combining the harmonic with the precise riffs to produce yet more soul gripping tunes.
Through "New Recruit" & "Dusk Becomes A Dawn" the music remains beautifully crafted with superb ambience and a varied style! Velcra carry themselves with a real sense of dignity and an extensive amount of style. "Dead End Line" once again shows off the bands Industrial prowess whilst "We Must Start Again" is both theatrical and dark!
With a real sense of urgency and drama, "Nautifungus" winds along like a twisted nursery rhyme. "Higher State Of Truth" is direct and abrupt and has almost zombie flick like melodies hidden within. Title track "Hadal" is the most harmonic on the album and deeply haunting in places.
"Quick & Dirty" wraps up what is a superb album by a truly talented band. Its a beautiful piece of work from start to finish, both subtely aggressive and beautifully delecate at the same time. (9)
